The temperature’s rising so it wasn’t surprising that 15 Toronto Power Walkers were out for last Saturday’s High Park walk. I, unfortunately, was out-of-town on business so could not be there. However, the wonderful thing about walking is, even if you have not been out for awhile (or ever), you can do it.
So for all of you regulars and all of you not-so-regulars or nevers, plan to join us this Saturday, February 14 at 8:30 at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery (see sidebars for details). You will still have lots of time to spend Valentine’s with the sweetie of your choice and (here’s the real reason many of us walk) you will deserve any chocolate that might come your way. For those training for the spring half marathons who have not done over 10K this year, please adjust your distance accordingly … and come out even if you want to do less. It is doing something that counts.
A reminder that we have also added Tuesdays at 6:30pm at the Quail and Firkin Pub to work on intervals and Thursdays at 6:30pm at the North Toronto Community Centre for mid-week training (see Where we meet and When for details).
Upcoming events:
- Post Walk Update/Brunch - February 21. Please email Phyllis by Sat. Feb. 14 if you are planning to come.
- Toronto Women's Marathon - May 31. If you are not registered and want to represent Toronto Power Walkers at a water station please register online and be sure to identify yourself as a member of Toronto Power Walkers.
- MORE/New York/April 26. If you are interested in taking part in a tour group that is being organized please contact May at cmayrun26@yahoo.com. The package includes a bus, driver and accommodations for 4 days and 3 nights at a very reasonable cost.
Come on out and join us on Saturday, or Tuesday, or Thursday or all three.
