TPW MORNINGS (BY DANIELLE)

While we might, from time to time, vary the hour when TPW begins walking, we are
clearly committed to our morning starts. Even when it is hot, sticky and smokey, or
freezing cold, wet and windy, someone comments on how the morning air is fresh or the
light is lovely, or that the birds sound different in the earliest part of the day. I maintain
that the morning IS special. Animals, humans included, seem to experience hope, or at
the least a sense of possibility as the sun is rising. What will the weather be like? What
have we planned – or perhaps even, what can we do without planning – on this special
day? There is a gentle excitement in the air when we gather to walk together in the
morning. If I am not looking forward to anything in particular, I can quickly find out that
another walker is. A trip? A birthday? A new grandchild? A visit from a friend or family
member? Even when what is around the corner may not be happy, we share the
anticipation and the sense of promise the morning brings.
