There is Always More to the Story... (BY PHILIPPA)

I shall not take this opportunity to bore you with details of the renovation work that has now begun at my house (the kitchen and bathrooms have been demolished! The sun room and shed are gone!) or my move to my brother and sister-in-laws condo (bless them) and all the change that action implies (I can't find anything! I'm losing my mind!)

But no, that is an ongoing saga that we shall return to, I am sure.

What I do want to mention is that I've been thinking about the impact of all the information that constantly floods into our brains; all the sound bites, messages, pictures, headlines, video clips etc coming at us, and I wonder if that is playing a part in dividing us from each other, because we very rarely hear the story behind the noise or the context behind the sound bite. For me the great joy of walking with the group on a Saturday morning are all the quiet conversations that take place as we walk with each other and as we quietly listen to each other tell her story.

And in other news: now that it is almost summer, a few of us who live in the west end are thinking we would like to alternate our Saturday morning walks between the cemetery and the waterfront. Can I have a show of interest? Please email me.
