Here we are more than mid-way through March and so much of
the ice that has plagued the sidewalks and streets of the city all winter is
still with us. We walkers discovered
that our morning walk in the cemetery
was quite treacherous as we had to slowly traverse the very slippery ice patches found all along our route, calling out
warnings to each other as we cautiously moved forward. We certainly did not make any speed records
that day. In addition, it was windy and
damp so the air felt much colder than it actually was, warming only temporarily
when the sun occasionally broke through the clouds. All in all, except for each other's company
which is always so enjoyable, it was not the most pleasant of walks and I for
one was very happy when we headed for breakfast and the warmth. But at least I know that the season is
heading in the right direction as we continue to experience more hours of light and
hopefully warmer weather. I am always
the optimist until I am proven wrong!
