Here We Go! (BY PHILIPPA)

I listened to a delightful interview on CBC Radio’s Sunday Magazine last Sunday with
two ladies in their eighties who are travelling the world together. Eleanor Hamby and
Dr. Sandra Hazelip are best friends who go on adventures all over the world and have
now written a book about it called: Here We Go: Lessons for Living Fearlessly from Two
Traveling Nanas
“From the icy shores of Antarctica, the deep bush in Zambia on Medical Missions
(without electricity or plumbing, just the restorative power of meaningful service and
human connection), to the breathtaking night sky above the Syrian desert, life on the
road has gifted Ellie and Sandy essential wisdom. Here We Go expands on the joyous
message of hope that launched them into the spotlight, delivering tales of their exploits,
advice and inspiration…
As I heard them speak on the radio (and they sure are feisty fun women), I couldn’t help
but think about our very own group of walking women, who have faced and continue to
face all kinds of challenges as we age and yet still meet our early morning walks with
grit and determination. Rock on, ladies!
“The gift of age is freedom – and how better to enjoy than by opening our hearts and
minds to adventure and exploring our great big wonderful world?” Hamby and Hazelip
