The new year beckons and I am very happy to tell you about some wonderful things to look forward to:
1. Just when you think you cannot bear February anymore, let me introduce you to: The Winter Chocolate Show! I already have my ticket. It will be held on February 8, 2025 at the Toronto Reference Library (Bluma Appel Salon). It will be an entire day filled with a chocolate marketplace, seminars and tasting sessions. How good is that???

2. For a fascinating dinner experience, check out the Depanneur - "a place where interesting food things happen." Organized by the same man who offers communal dinners under the Bentway during the summer, he has now opened a dining room on Spadina at the Centre for Social Innovation. The Depanneur offers cooking classes as well as supper clubs every Saturday. I went to one of their dinners recently with a friend to experience a traditional Mexican Day of the Dead celebratory meal. Lots of good food, fascinating cultural information and fun. The style of food changes every week with a different chef cooking. You can sign up for their monthly newsletter on their website.

3. And finally, for much amusement, check out Heather Cox Richardson's newsletter dated Dec 27, 2024. She is an American historian who writes a daily newsletter about contemporary American politics in the context of history. Her Dec 27th newsletter is about the emerging Republican conflict between the "tech bros" (i.e. Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy) and the traditional MAGA "diehards." This internecine warfare will not end well for either group but it will certainly entertain us as we watch them self destruct.

And with that, I wish each and every one of you a very happy new year!!!
