Today was the solstice AND it was the first day of winter in reality - the first sunny day with a snowfall that stuck to the ground. The cemetery was a winter wonderland filled with trucks making things safe for us.
My first reaction to the forecast was BRR -GET BACK INTO BED! But the messages from the group that started filling our chat were defiant. One after another, people declared their intention to walk and then those who thought they might not, changed their intention. This is called a tipping point. By the time we gathered there were more than a dozen. (Interestingly, many in bright red coats! A possible order of Santa affiliates?) And they walked the distance!
I confess that my pace didn't allow me to stay with them but I know a lot of shortcuts so I was there to meet them when they arrived for coffee.
