Over the years, when I write this blog, I usually write for the other members of the Toronto Power Walkers but today I thought I would write to anyone out there who might be interested but not sure. Maybe you have been thinking, I should get more exercise and I like walking but it’s boring just walking around on my own. I go out a couple of times but then lose my motivation and I’m back on the couch. And anyway, the weather is getting iffy and so I think I will wait until spring and think about it then. I think everyone of the group has been there at some time. But let me tell you about the power of joining a group of like-minded women who regularly get out on Saturday mornings at 9am, all year round (unless the weather is particularly filthy) to walk the Mt. Pleasant cemetery. Some of us walk fast and some more slowly. Everyone sets their own pace and there is always someone going the same speed. Some of us have been doing this for years, and some have joined more recently. Some of us train for races, others just enjoy the company and the fresh air. The conversation is wide-ranging and the atmosphere is friendly. We encourage newcomers to try us first before becoming members so there is no pressure to join.
So, if you are interested, come join us next Saturday, just inside the Yonge Street gates to the cemetery. We are the group in running shoes and walking gear.
