There's been lots of chatter about a destination race in 2025 - when? where? What kind of race? etc. All with our usual enthusiasm, and building on many fun experiences in the past.
1. Given our experience with the Ottawa race weekend in May of this year, it's apparent that a race that we can get to by car, plane or train works well for a critical mass. For the Ottawa weekend we had 21 people - which included 4 good men:).
Other criteria to consider include:
2. An out of town race held in the spring, for those of us who do not like to train for a 21 km race in the heat of the summer, plus that time seems to be workable for many of us with other travel plans throughout the year.
3. A race that offers 5 km, 10 km and 21 km options.
4. In the Ottawa race weekend, the 10 km race was on Saturday night and the 21 km was on Sunday morning. I recall discussions around this and believe the consensus was that these different days/times of races did not work all that well for our group, for various reasons,
So, I'm hoping someone would volunteer to research possible races that fit these criteria? Montreal has come up as an option if there is a potential race in that city. But certainly open to other suggestions.
And I'll go on the record as saying that I'm happy to be the organizer/point person - but also happy to hand that over to someone else who'd like to take on that role!
As an FYI for date planning purposes, those of us involved in the Give a Breath event, it is scheduled for Saturday June 7, 2025.
Hard to believe we're heading into the second week of September, but looking back we started planning for the Ottawa race weekend last September.
