Ok. I confess that I forgot to write this week’s blog – even though I had written it in my
calendar. However, I did remember my granddaughter’s birthday (how on earth can she
be 29?), that the family was coming for lunch, and how to respond in a variety of non-
life-threatening emergencies (when did you say the train was supposed to leave?) Does
this qualify me to run for public office? Thanks goodness, no. While I may be “doing my
best,” I still need my walking friends to jolly me out of a rotten mood, to remind me
which month (or season) we are currently living through, and to talk me down when
world politics drives me to distraction. So, for those of us whose memories may be less
than reliable, whether you choose to stay the course, to learn a new language, or to
reread a book (because you may not remember having read it in the first place), I think
we are doing very well indeed. And, of course, the best solution for us all is to just keep walking!
