.What is it about this month that signals new beginnings? Surely the return to school, many people home from their summer travels, traffic even more snarled ....and the fall routines that kick in for so many.
On a personal note, I particularly enjoy the difference in the light and the air in this month of transition. No more chatter about heat and humidity. The change in colours, trees, and leaves showing off reds and golds, demonstrates that Mother Nature, despite all that is happening in the world, still has her magical powers to lift our spirits by these rituals of change.
But I always loved September for all that it promised.
And speaking of promises - many of us have talked about making a commitment to a race in 2024. We all agree that it helps to have a goal to work towards. To have a training plan! And what better than to frame this goal and effort with other TPW's, throwing in copious amounts of fun and possibly a travel adventure?
I, for one, am up for this goal. And if a race ends up being out of town, then I'm also happy to work on the logistics and coordination.
Rob and I are in Montreal for this long weekend, and the weather has been perfect for exploring (on foot of course!) and racking up those km's -(and clearly we had forgotten how hilly this city is!) Such a great way to see different neighbourhoods and Montreal's many treasures and sights. We are staying not that far from McGill and we have resisted the temptation to "crash" the many Frosh Week parties that are taking place almost around the clock it seems.
Another reminder of September's new beginnings. Enjoy and cherish all that it brings
