I find it somewhat
disconcerting (or at least disconnected) to be blogging while still on the
sidelines. I still get great enjoyment just reading the notes going back and
forth, knowing that I am on the mend and will be out again before too long.
One of those notes that
really got me motivated was to try doing 2017 miles in 2017. Now, I am crazy
enough to try to do that on my own, but there’s a big part of me that is very
glad I’ve joined a team. And as
I was walking the other day I was wondering what on earth I was going to blog
about this week. What was happening that I could relate to walking? Then I
thought, well it doesn’t have to be about walking. It can start from there, but
as with the best walks, it veers off into the unknown. (I know. Where is he
going with this one?)
2017 in 2017! It doesn’t have
to be miles. It could be kilometres. Or it could be something only slightly
related. For me, it would be a stretch to say I do enough stretching. And that
is how I got to be on the sidelines. Many kms and many races in 2016 made
Mikey’s hips a very sad pair. So this year is one of recuperation. As part of
that I need to incorporate stretching into my everyday routine. So, by the end
of the year I want to be doing 2017 hip stretch reps per month. That’s about 70
per day. If I can do that, it will have become a habit and something that will
stay with me for some time to come.
What about you? Do you have a
goal for 2017? Some resolution that is receding into memory? Try breaking it
down into chunks of 2017. That’s about 170 per month. Or about 60 per week. Do
it as a team and the sharing of the task is an added benefit. It starts to
sound a little easier and at the end of the year 2017 is a pretty big number.
Or, maybe it can be things
that are just good. What about making 2017 people laugh? (Ok, that probably
adds 20 or so to my count). Or giving 2017 hugs for the year? Or 2017 kisses?
Whatever you do this year,
here’s wishing you 2017 blessings for your efforts. Peace.
