A glorious
morning, perfect for walking, was enjoyed this past Saturday;
coolish with a little breeze at first, becoming hot and sunny as the morning
went on.
The plan was
to meet at 8:15 am at the Lakeshore light so that the 8 am group
could connect with the 7 am group and we could walk together.
And it worked; we met at the designated spot and began to head eastward
together, mixing and mingling as is our wont. It was a great opportunity
to catch up with events in each other's lives. Some pulled ahead, others
fell back, everyone seemed to settle into their own rhythm.
At one point,
the women I was with turned back and I continued on walking alone, knowing that
I would eventually reconnect with those in front of me, even if they were on
their return journey! But first I met a young woman I used to work with.
Pregnant for the first time, she was walking with her partner and little
dog and it was lovely to see them so excited and anxious about their soon to
arrive new baby. I would guess many of us remember those feelings of
anticipation and terror!
And then I did meet up with the returning group and we headed back together toward the park and plans for breakfast outside on the patio. Such a beautiful way to start the weekend.
