A beautiful spring weekend in Toronto meant lots of walking.
21 TPW'ers were out bright and early Saturday to walk their
distance. Some of us are committed to the training schedule for their upcoming
races and others are not.
I am in the "not" group. How do I change my focus from
walking to training? I am open to any and all advice. What
worked for you? Should I choose a "big" goal. A new race
or a pace goal?
So Saturday presented us with a challenge....how many layers do
you wear on a spring day? TPW'ers wore from 2 to 6. It will be
interesting this Saturday to see if we choose better after a walk in
the warm spring sunshine. I know I changed my gear , from tights to shorts and
a long sleeve shirt only. I walked the Toronto Yonge Street 10K as
the "10min/km walk pacer and I was dressed well for
today. Shirley was the back of the pack walker and she had multiple
layers, what works for one does not work for another.
Congratulations are in order for Jo Ann! Jo Ann was fourth in her
age category for the Yonge Street 10K. Last Sunday
she did Harry's 8K.
No matter the distance, getting out there and doing the distance is a
wonderful thing.
If you haven't already chosen your races for this year, give it
some thought this week. If you are still unsure, talk to your fellow
walkers. I suspect they will have a few suggestions
Happy Passover, Happy Easter, Happy Spring
