A group of 13 of us did one loop of High Park and headed west to the gazebo and then to the lighthouse. We enjoyed the breeze from the lake. We were delighted with the sighting of the baby raccoon sleeping in the tree branches.
Rorie commented on a group of people walking with full body wetsuits and scuba gear, they responded by saying they were dry snorklers.
It was that kind of morning.

Susan B did her training distance of 29K and is on track for the Chicago Marathon. Rorie and Helen walked east to Ontario Place and then turned back to finish their 21K, while Mary decided to walk to Spadina before turning back to build up her distance.
I believe the others, Laurel, Diane, Sue, Linda, Kathrin, Deborah, Sherry and Rosemary chose a western route to avoid the temptation of passing Colbourne Lodge road mid walk. All walked their distance and joined the group enjoying breakfast at the Grenadier Restaurant.
Walking on the Martin Goodman Trail we met Marcy and David returning from their runs. We met up with Rosemarie and Kathryn G at the restaurant. Helen was very happy to be walking with the group after walking 32K alone at the cottage last week.
Phyllis, Lorna and James met on Sunday morning to walk hoping to avoid the rain that was forecast for Saturday. Unfortunately were caught in the rain at the Beach but they did 28K altering their return route.
We are all getting experience in walking in the rain this summer. I wonder if we will have the experience of doing a half or full in the rain?
With less than two months to go until the Toronto Women's Island half and the Scotia races we are mid way in our training. Chicago is two weeks later so we are all well on our way
For those who are not training for a specific event, come out and join us. Our routes accomodate those doing shorter distances. We miss you!!! If you can't make it out on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday, use the google groups and let us know what you are up to.
Registration is opening up for some 2010 races so if you are interested in the Toronto Women's Half in May or the Robbie Burns 8K in January ...check out the websites and register early as both races were sold out last year.
If you haven't registered for the Scotia races you might want to consider the Kitchener Waterloo Walking Classic 5 or 10K. Kathrin is registered and she would love having TPW'ers to walk with . Checking the Shorethings blog there will be 6 from their group doing the race. Consider supporting this WALKERS ONLY event.
The long weekend is just days away so if you busy with travel, friends and family, have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your walking where ever you are.
For those of the group staying in the City , see you in High Park Saturday morning. As always remember sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, hydration and something to fuel your body.
